Val ready for Imola Posted on 03/09/2004 @ 00:40
After a very disappointing 24 Hour race at Zolder two weeks ago, where he had to abandon his fifth place in the race due to mechanical failure, Val now gets his spirits up for the FIA GT race at Imola this weekend.

During these last two weeks the Zwaans Racing Team has gone through some significant changes, the most remarkable being the withdrawal of the N°9 Chrysler Viper GTS-R for the entire remainder of the Championship. Arjan van der Zwaan: “It has not been an easy decision to make, but we think focussing on just one car will give us the opportunity to fight for points in the races to come this season.”

On the drivers-front there are some interesting changes as well. With only one Chrysler Viper GTS-R entered, team-owners Arjan and Rob van der Zwaan have stepped down as drivers and are now fully focussed on running the team. Due to business obligations as CEO of SIMBIN, Henrik Roos will not be joining the team at Imola. The seat left vacant by him will be filled by three times FIA GT champion and freshly crowned Le Mans Endurance Series champion, Christophe Bouchut. He will join Val and Stephane Lémeret on the N°10 Chrysler Viper GTS-R.

“I welcome the changes made to the team and I’m looking forward to renewing my partnership with Christophe Bouchut.” says Val. “Restricting us to only one car and a strong driver line-up should give us the opportunity to shine at Imola. I can’t wait…”
