It al started according plan when we did a “shake-down” of the new car. In the race Bert took the start and exchanged stints with Anthony doing the Zolder racetrack in 1.38 minute laps. This is about 6 seconds slower then the car is capable of doing.
About 21.15 hours it all went horrobly wrong when I saw the viper with it’s nose up against the wall and steam comming from the engine. Bert got hit by a slower BMW that came to the right where GLPK’s Viper was with no reason what so ever.
Longin: “Anthopny kumpen just came into the pits and told me there was some strange stuff happening on the track. The first stind usualy isn’t a problem because most teams put in there best driver’s, It’s at night the “less godlike” driver’s come into action. Why didn’t this guy just stay on the ideal line? No, he keeps to the right and when I come up beside him he comes up to the left. I Don’t know if there is a solution for this problem in the driver differences that keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Hillebrand: “unfortunatly I didn’t drive this weekend and the dissapointment was huge. Bert and Anthony are not to blame they did there job without a mistake. It’s just one of those races that didn’t come our way. Indeed I believe that Bert is right about the big difference in driver’s and racing test for licenses should become more difficult.Let’s just focus on the job at hand: the 1000km of Nürburgring.”
